Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University recognizes the health impact of smoking on students, faculty, staff, and visitors. To promote health and quality of life for everyone on campus, the university has established the following “Smoke-Free Policy”:
1. Designation of Smoke-Free Zones
- Establish a smoke-free campus, including academic buildings, offices, common areas, green spaces, sports facilities, and surrounding areas.
- Install clear signage at key points, such as campus entrances, academic buildings, student services centers, and sports complexes, to inform everyone about the smoke-free policy.
2. Campaigns and Promotion of Smoke-Free Awareness
- Organize awareness campaigns about the impact of smoking, especially the health risks associated with smoking and secondhand smoke exposure.
- Encourage non-smoking participation on significant days such as World No Tobacco Day to emphasize the importance of quitting smoking.
3. Counseling and Support for Those Wishing to Quit Smoking
- Provide counseling services for individuals who wish to quit smoking by collaborating with health agencies for sustainable smoking cessation support.
- Promote the use of digital resources and technology for smoking cessation, such as support applications or online resources, to assist individuals who want to quit smoking.
4. Enforcement and Compliance Monitoring
- Establish a committee or department responsible for overseeing and enforcing the smoke-free measures, ensuring all campus members comply with the policy.
- Implement disciplinary measures for violations, including warnings and appropriate penalties, to foster a safe and supportive environment for all.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Conduct regular monitoring and assessment of the smoke-free policy to make continuous improvements and enhance policy effectiveness.
- Collect feedback from students and staff to adapt policies and measures to better meet the needs of all stakeholders.
This policy aims to create a clean, safe, and health-conscious environment for students, staff, and visitors on campus, with the goal of becoming a sustainable, smoke-free university.
