The day’s activities centered on knowledge exchange between researchers, community leaders, school teachers, and other local personnel. This exchange is designed to promote and support community-based conservation, ensuring the area remains a vital natural resource bank and a community ecosystem. Crucially, the participants worked together to:

  • Designate Community Forest Zones: Clearly defining forest areas for community management.
  • Install Boundary Signs: Placing signs along the borders of the Ban Suan Kluay Community Forest to ensure clear demarcation and prevent encroachment.
  • Increase Green Space: Expanding the area of the community forest zone.

The core principle guiding these efforts is the belief that integrating local wisdom with scientific understanding of the land and biological diversity will prevent the loss of both community-held knowledge and the natural resources within the community forests.
