Developing a Model Policy to Combat Poverty in the Primary District of Sakon Nakhon Province

On May 10, 2022, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, led by Dr. Mali Siprom, Head of the Model Policy Development Project for Solving Poverty Problems in the Pilot Area, conducted a visit to Khudhet Sub-district, Kut Bak District, Sakon Nakhon Province. During this visit, Dr. Siprom and her research team presented policy proposals to address poverty-related issues to target households. Accompanying the team were representatives from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the Strategic National Reforms and Reconciliation Commission (SNRR), and the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chinin Vassanin reported on the project’s progress.
Mr. Chamras Natchalum, Deputy Governor of Sakon Nakhon Province, received the policy proposals from the target households, consisting of 25 households, in conjunction with relevant agencies in Sakon Nakhon Province. The team also visited and observed the experimental income-enhancing activities of the snail farming model, summarized operational guidelines, and collaborated with Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University to develop a joint model policy for solving poverty problems in the pilot area.
The research project, approved by the regional development management and funding unit in 2020, is actively implementing accurate poverty alleviation measures in Kut Bak District, Sakon Nakhon Province, under the name ‘Kut Bak Model.’ This initiative involves establishing a system for investigation, referral, and assistance, implementing poverty alleviation models, and developing provincial-level management policies to address poverty. The current stage involves presenting participatory public policies and pilot policy models to drive efficient implementation, align with government policies, and achieve development goals, continuing in Sakon Nakhon Province.
