The Nong Han Center of Excellence, in collaboration with government agencies and civil society partners, organized a Workshop on Place-Based Interpretation for Nong Han, Sakon Nakhon Province, held during 6–7 December 2024 at Nong Han, Sakon Nakhon. The event gathered over 40 participants, including representatives from local communities around Nong Han, local leaders, and students from Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. The aim of this activity was to promote the conservation of natural resources, sustainable development, and the understanding of the value of Nong Han’s natural and cultural heritage. Participants learned techniques of place-based interpretation and joined a presentation competition under four topics: Interpretation of the diversity of natural resources and local occupations in Nong Han The historical settlement stories of communities surrounding Nong Han Protection of community rights in response to current local issues in the Nong Han area The bird diversity of Nong Han as a means to promote tourism This activity supports effective and sustainable local development and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, which emphasizes the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. It also encourages collaboration among all sectors in the sustainable protection of Nong Han’s resources.
