Out-of-Classroom Learning Activity: Enhancing Information Retrieval Skills in Political Science
On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, organized an out-of-classroom learning activity aimed at enhancing information literacy among first-year students from the Political Science Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The activity was assigned by Mr. Korakot Mataran, Director of the Office of Academic Resources, and facilitated by the Information Services team. Ms. Sasithorn Masthit, librarian, and Ms. Lamduan Kulayanee, librarian for resource development, conducted a guided library tour and provided instruction on information retrieval.
A total of 100 students, led by Associate Professor Dr. Phutthachak Sitthi, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, participated in the session.
During the visit to the Bannarat Nakhon Library Building, students were introduced to various library services, including the use of RFID technology for accessing library materials. They also received guidance on how to search for information using the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) system.
The librarians provided practical knowledge on how to access academic resources, explained usage regulations, introduced different service zones, and demonstrated how to borrow books through the ALIST automated library system. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ research and academic skills in the digital era.”
