On November 21, 2023, the Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University’s Coordination Center for the Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (APSR) participated in the opening ceremony of the 7th Regional School Botanical Garden and Local Resource Base Exhibition. The event took place from November 21 to 25, 2023, at the Thapangkorn Rajjatham Auditorium, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province.
During the event, the university welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and presented her with a cotton indigo tie-dye fabric featuring the “Sakontham” design, which has been registered for intellectual property protection. This design integrates the natural heritage of Sakon Nakhon, reflecting the local culture. The project was developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaninthorn Wasinonth, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantakarn Koetmalai, and Mr. Amnat Sunaprom, with the fabric being dyed and woven by Grandma Poon Kodprom.
The Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University Coordination Center collaborated with the APSR network from the Upper Northern region to showcase products derived from indigo and moringa, demonstrating their efforts under the royal initiative. Additionally, schools within the jurisdiction of the Sakon Nakhon APSR Coordination Center received royal commendation certificates at Level 1, along with three signs recognizing their adherence to royal initiatives. Six other institutions also participated in the exhibition, highlighting their contributions to school botanical gardens and local resource bases.
