The Faculty of Environmental Science at Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University has completed a project to develop a prototype groundwater filtration system designed to provide safe and clean drinking water for local communities. This project aligns with the university’s mission to improve public health and address water quality issues in areas with limited access to potable water.
The filtration system, developed with a budget of 60,000 THB, was specifically designed to remove contaminants commonly found in groundwater, such as iron, manganese, and hardness. Field tests and sampling were conducted in five target areas across Sakon Nakhon Province to assess groundwater quality and adapt the filtration design to local conditions. The system uses efficient, low-cost materials and is user-friendly, making it a practical solution for rural communities.
