Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University Organizes Workshop and Field Activities for Effective Research and Academic Services in Local Communities

On July 17, 2023, the Research and Development Institute at Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University held a workshop on “Managing Research and Academic Services Projects for Effective Utilization in Local Areas and Communities.” The event was opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Kongphop Chamat, Vice President of the university, with special guest speakers including Associate Professor Dr. Khemrat Theerungsri from the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Piyatat Phalanurak from the National Brain Bank Institute. The workshop took place at Dusita Room, Phuphan Place Hotel, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, with over 40 faculty members, staff, and external participants attending.

From July 18–21, 2023, the project continued with field visits to exchange knowledge on best practices in research and academic services aimed at creating local change. On July 18, participants visited Nong Luang Suksathit School in Sawang Daen Din District, Sakon Nakhon, to discuss the topic “Educational Institutions Creating Learning for Local Community Development.” On July 19, the team visited the Kham Klang Thongchai community in Mueang District, Sakon Nakhon, to explore the topic “Street Art at Kham Klang Thongchai: From Sakon Nakhon’s Old Town to a Creative City for Future Generations.” Finally, on July 21, they visited the Organic Forest Enterprise in Tha Si Klai Mai, Thatu Subdistrict, Wanorn Niwas District, Sakon Nakhon, to learn about the “Sakon Nakhon Model” for a sustainable, integrated vegetable production system to increase household income.

These activities are part of a project aimed at promoting and supporting the implementation of local research and development strategies. The events served as a platform for academics, faculty, researchers, and students from Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University to listen to the reflections and needs of target communities, providing valuable insights to help develop plans for community-driven change. This initiative contributes to the university’s goal of supporting local development and strengthening its role as a key partner in future community advancement.
