“On June 29, 2024, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, represented by Associate Professor Ratthaphon Rittitham, Vice President, participated in the opening ceremony of the “20th Debt Relief and Justice Fair” for Fiscal Year 2024. The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Phatthanawut Angkanawin, Representative of the Minister of Justice and Official at the Ministry of Justice, at Meeting Room 19213, Building 19, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University.
The event was organized by the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection and the Department of Legal Execution, in collaboration with the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Justice Office, under the government policy led by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to comprehensively address debt problems affecting all sectors, including agriculture, business, and the general public.
Key issues addressed at the event included debt problems related to the Student Loan Fund, vehicle hire-purchase debts, credit card and personal loans, and improvements in justice procedures to facilitate debt resolution.
The objective of the fair was to mediate disputes concerning Student Loan Fund debts, vehicle hire-purchase debts, government official debts, credit card and personal loans, as an alternative to litigation, and to promote awareness and acceptance of mediation as stipulated by the Mediation Act B.E. 2562 (2019).
The target groups included Student Loan Fund (SLF) debtors, financial institution debtors, court judgment debtors, the general public, the working committee of the People’s Dispute Mediation Center, the Community Justice Center Committee, and officials from government agencies and related networks involved in dispute mediation.
Activities during the event included dispute mediation and debt restructuring processes, exhibition booths for public relations of participating agencies, educational seminars by experts, anonymous debt relief clinics, and consultation services for creditors and debtors.
Mr. Chusak Ruying, Governor of Sakon Nakhon Province, delivered the welcoming remarks, while Mr. Sarawut Kongyuen, Director of the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Justice Office, presented the report. Heads of justice agencies and provincial officials also honored the event with their presence.
The event featured an academic panel discussion titled “Providing Assistance to the Public in Resolving Debt Problems and Facilitating Justice,” with speakers including:
