Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University Shared Innovations and Knowledge Transfer for Enhancing Sakon Nakhon Beef Cattle

On November 21, 2023, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University participated in the delivery of innovations and technology, alongside training and knowledge transfer to promote and elevate Sakon Nakhon beef cattle. This event took place at the community enterprise group of beef cattle farmers in Ban Kamphung, Nonhom Subdistrict, Mueang Sakon Nakhon District, Sakon Nakhon Province.

The event was attended by Mr. Phisit Raethong, Deputy Governor of Sakon Nakhon Province, and Assoc. Prof. Chakarit Chanachitprecha, acting president of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, who welcomed the participants. Following the opening remarks, Mr. Theerawat Boonsom, Director of the Research and Innovation Promotion Division, officially handed over the innovations and technologies to the community enterprise group.

The delivery included six innovations and technologies:

  1. Solar-powered water pumping and filtration system for cattle farms
  2. Solar energy cattle housing
  3. Prototype rubber flooring for cattle to reduce impact
  4. Cattle shoes for injury prevention and treatment
  5. Manure pellet mixer and press
  6. Portable solar-powered multi-purpose dryer

In addition to these innovations, three key knowledge areas were shared:

  1. Methods for preventing and treating hoof and leg injuries in beef cattle
  2. Suitable feed formulations for cattle
  3. Marketing strategies and packaging for Sakon Nakhon beef

This initiative was supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), which granted funding for the project “Promotion and Enhancement of Sakon Nakhon Beef Cattle through Innovations and Technology.” The aim is to boost beef cattle farming using smart farm technologies and improve the quality of beef in Sakon Nakhon, along with enhancing sales and logistics systems.

The faculty and researchers recognized the importance of research and the development of suitable technologies and innovations that meet the needs of the targeted community enterprise in Nonhom Subdistrict, Mueang Sakon Nakhon District.
