From August 7-11, 2023, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University participated in the national research event THAILAND RESEARCH EXPO 2023 under the theme “Thai Research Advancing Sustainable Economic and Social Development,” organized by the National Research Council of Thailand at the Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center, 22nd floor, CentralWorld, Bangkok. Associate Professor Dr. Arunrat Kamhaengphol and a team of researchers from the Faculty of Education represented the project “Natural Drinking Straws,” presenting it as part of the research and innovation efforts to drive national development through the BCG economic model.
Throughout the five days, the event attracted numerous students, researchers, faculty, and interested visitors. It also garnered attention from public media and news agencies for interviews regarding environmentally friendly research. The technology can be easily transferred to schools and community enterprises, allowing them to produce functional drinking straws from Thai agricultural products. These straws are biodegradable and non-toxic to the environment, while importantly not affecting the smell and taste of beverages.
