On August 6, 2024, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, organized a project entitled “Promoting Environmental Stewardship for the Community: Carbon Credit for the Community and Environment” at Ban Dong San, Phon Ngam Subdistrict, Akat Amnuai District, Sakon Nakhon Province.
Asst. Prof. Chakrit Chanchitpreecha, President of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, presided over the opening ceremony, while Mr. Nethichai Thanarat, lecturer in the Law Program, delivered the project report. The event was attended by university executives, faculty members, students, and local residents of Ban Dong San.
This initiative was part of the Social Engineer Project for the Fiscal Year 2024, organized by the Student Club of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It aimed to enhance students’ competencies based on the principles and tools of Social Engineering, focusing on the development of soft skills that prepare them to become communicators, coordinators, and community innovators.
The program emphasized integrated learning and hands-on experience at every stage to address community or area-based issues, using a Social Lab-Based approach rooted in local development. The project also promoted reforestation in disaster-affected areas and encouraged forest planting, conservation of natural resources and the environment, and the preservation of local cultural heritage.
In addition, the event featured an academic lecture titled “Knowledge on Carbon Credit and Community-Based Environmental Conservation” by Mr. Satsada Chantrai, District Agricultural Officer of Akat Amnuai, and a special talk on “Forest Ordination: Restoring Bung and Tam Forests – Community Ways of Life and Natural Resource Conservation” by Mr. Natthaphon Niphun, a local wisdom scholar from Ban Dong San.
