On 16 December 2024, the Nong Han Center of Excellence participated in the Policy Forum on Natural Resources and Ecosystem Management in Wetland Areas, held at Blue Hotel, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province. The forum was organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Thailand Office under the Leading the Change Phase II (LtC2) Project.
The project aims to strengthen the role of civil society organizations and community-based organizations in sustainably managing natural resources, especially by promoting the implementation of laws and policies related to natural resource and ecosystem management in wetlands, such as water management, fisheries resources, and community forests.
The forum featured presentations on policies related to biodiversity management in wetland areas and provided a platform for stakeholders at both regional and provincial levels to review progress from past operations, exchange lessons learned, and propose recommendations for future development.
The meeting emphasized effective participation of civil society and communities at all stages, marking an important step in promoting sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems in wetlands—for the benefit of the environment and the long-term quality of life of the people.
