Improving Agricultural Productivity: Addressing Drought Challenges in Lampang and Sukhothai Provinces

On May 20-21, 2022, Professor Dr. Tosawat Seetawan, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, led a team of researchers from Rajabhat Sakon Nakhon University in collaboration with the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) to implement a project addressing drought and enhancing agricultural production through appropriate technology in the communities of Lampang and Sukhothai provinces. Funded by the National Research Council of Thailand under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the project aims to improve the quality of life, promote self-sufficiency, and create resilient communities through on-site research and innovation. Discussions during the meeting on May 20, 2022, at the Tambon Ban Kho Administrative Organization in Mueang Pan District, Lampang Province, included objectives, project implementation, community context study, water sources survey, and cooperative groups. The meeting was attended by the head of the Tambon Administrative Organization and representatives from 13 villages, totaling 61 participants. On May 21, 2022, a similar meeting was conducted at the Tambon Tha Chanuan Administrative Organization in Kong Kala District, Sukhothai Province, with the head of the Tambon Administrative Organization and representatives from 12 villages, totaling 46 participants. This field visit aimed to extend the ‘Mukdahan Model’ to address drought and improve agricultural production using appropriate technology in Lampang and Sukhothai provinces.
