The Research and Development Institute of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University organized a workshop entitled “Transferring Knowledge on the Production of Indigo and Natural Dyes for Multiple Uses in the Community”, under the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative (RSPG Project), during July 4–5, 2024, at Kut Haet Watthanarat Phadung School, Kut Bak Sub-district, Kut Bak District, Sakon Nakhon Province.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mrs. Sukon Jeenkham, Director of Kut Haet Watthanarat Phadung School, while Lecturer Oranong Khundech, Deputy Director of the Research and Development Institute of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, delivered the report on the training activity.
The objective of the workshop was to respond to the Royal Initiative of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project (RSPG) and to transfer knowledge about the use of indigo and natural dyes, enabling community members to recognize the value of local resources and to foster appreciation and conservation of their own natural heritage.
A total of 45 participants took part in the activity. The invited guest speakers were Lecturer Amnat Sunaprom and Ms. Piansap Wongsida. Activities included: Lectures on indigo knowledge Hands-on activity on eco-print leaf-pattern fabric printing Painting fabric with natural dyes Indigo batik Indigo tie-dye fabric production
This workshop provided new learning experiences for students and served as a guideline for the development of local curriculum in schools to preserve natural resources, culture, and local wisdom within the community for future generations.
